Can You Put an Electric Fireplace Under a TV?
Yes—many electric fireplaces can be integrated below a television, but the fireplace model, heat path, TV requirements and viewing height must be planned together.

An electric fireplace produces a different installation challenge from a decorative screen or a piece of cabinetry. Even when the flame effect is electric, the heater and air outlet can affect the surfaces and electronics above it.
The right starting point is not an average distance copied from another project. It is the installation manual for the selected fireplace, the television manufacturer’s operating requirements and the proportions of your room.

The mantel, recess, cabinetry and material transitions should do more than decorate the wall. They control hierarchy, create separation and help the entire composition feel intentional.
Exact spacing, recess depth, mantel projection, ventilation and framing must follow the manuals for the selected fireplace and television as well as applicable electrical and building requirements.

Know the unit dimensions, installation type, heat outlet location, electrical requirements and manufacturer clearances before framing.
Check the Heat Path
Some units direct heat forward while others use different airflow strategies. The surrounding wall and anything above must respect that design.
Protect Viewing Comfort
Do not push the television higher simply to make every element fit. Evaluate the primary seating distance and comfortable sightline.
Coordinate the Mantel
A mantel can create visual separation and may influence heat movement, but its height and projection must match the fireplace manual.
Plan Power & AV
Locate power, HDMI, data, soundbar wiring and equipment access before closing the wall. Avoid service points trapped behind permanent finishes.
Keep the Unit Serviceable
Confirm how the fireplace, television and media equipment can be removed or maintained without damaging finished surfaces.
Clearance is model-specific
Do not design from one universal number
Official manufacturer guidance varies because fireplace output, air discharge, enclosure design and allowed installation methods vary. Dimplex advises checking both the television manufacturer’s restrictions and the minimum clearances in the fireplace owner’s manual.
Manufacturer diagrams also show that mantel depth, recess geometry and air circulation can change the temperature around electronics. The completed installation must keep the television within its manufacturer’s allowable operating temperature.

Choose a palette that supports the screen and the flame
A quieter, more coordinated wall
Balance texture, contrast and evening light
Light stone and smooth plaster keep a large wall visually calm. Natural wood introduces warmth. A charcoal surface can help the television recede when it is off.
Use one leading material and one supporting accent before adding shelves, lighting or decorative trim. Too many finishes compete with both the screen and the fireplace.

It can be when both products are installed within their manufacturer requirements and the completed layout manages heat, airflow and electrical service correctly.
Do I Always Need a Mantel?
No. Some approved layouts use a recess or other manufacturer-permitted configuration. A mantel should never replace checking the actual installation instructions.
How High Should the TV Be?
TV height should balance viewing comfort with fireplace requirements. Check the primary seating position before finalizing the vertical stack.
Can the Fireplace Be Fully Recessed?
Only if the selected model permits that installation and the enclosure provides the required dimensions, airflow, electrical access and serviceability.
